The Mystery of the Stuttering Parrot (The Three Investigators No. 2)

My husband read these books when he was young and had been talking about them for years. He finally pinned me down to ordering some. I can say that my 8 and 6 yr old LOVE listening to them as well as reading on own. They are great mystery stories and we will continue to order the rest of the set as they get through them. Thank you Amazon!! They are pricey but thanks to being able to buy used through amazon they are affordable. Who would have thought they could be worth so much! I guess you never know what treasures you may have stored away from way back when!

I read the Three Investigators series as a young girl (in another language), and I find that I still enjoy these books even when I am a mother of 3 children now. I own approximately 20 books so far, and will continue to buy if the price is right. I find that [...] sell these used books for a lot less. In 1978, I was given a hardcopy edition of this very book for my birthday by my Aunt. What kind of relative gives a 9 year old kid a book for his birthday anyway??Little did I know that this book would lead me to over forty others and the Greatest series/collection of books that I have ever read. I love the Three Investigators and I feel that this was the best book of the entire series.The author takes great care in guiding you through the "mystery"/adventure and lets Jupiter Jones put it all together in the end.I don't want to spoil the very ending, so I won't go into detail...just be assured that this book will delight a juvenile or adult.Buy this now! I bought this for my pre-teenage daughter and son. Sure beats them wasting their time reading about witches or vampires!!

This series is still good after all these years. There are twists you won't see coming.

This book for children/teens, is better than most novels written for today's adults!

The three investigators are a great series of books, I would have to say the stuttering parrot is my favorite because it is very detailed of what happened it tells you where they are what their doing and so on. I think who ever gets this book will enjoy it!

I read this series when I was in grade school. I purchased the book for my grandson. It is great.

「どもるオウム」ってなんのこっちゃ？と思いつつ読み始めたらこれがまた最高に面白いんです。推理小説は好きで、よく読むのですがこの本の前に読んでいたアガサ・クリスティよりも面白かったほどです。推理物で、解決編まで大げさなほど盛り上がるのに、真相は単純でつまらない、そんな事はありませんか。でもこの本は決して読者をガッカリさせません。それほど謎がよくできています。暗号めいたメッセージが解読され、謎が明かされていく場面では本当にワクワクどきどきしました。言葉遊びの要素が多く、英語ならではの謎解きの醍醐味をたっぷり味わえますよ。推理物ファンを自称する方は、是非ご一読を！

最初のうちは、状況がよくわからなかったけれど、読み進めているうちにハマってきて、後半は１日程度で一気に読んでしまいました。オウムの話す謎（もちろん英語）が順番に明かされていくところは、十分に楽しめます。特に一番最後の謎解き場面は圧巻で、「えっ、どういうこと？？」としばらく考え込んでしまいました。下手な推理小説よりも面白いのは確かです。英語の方は、私の語学力では知らない単語が時々出てくるのですが、わからなくてもなんとなく読めてしまいます。もっとも、私は気になるので辞書を横に置きながら読みました。
