Gift for my Grandson. For Christmas
I purchased two of these one for each of my Grandsons. They look like a good product. I have yet to see his response to them. I hope he likes it.

The kids love it!
And all the youngest had a ball playing with the set and several engines as well as the safari park. It does come apart with rough play, but I had to be there anyway so I just put it back together and they all were entertained for hours!

Interactive fun for children and adults
The set comes with one train but we bought two more. Trains converse with each other and with the station. The trains and station recognize when a train pulls into the fuel depot, loading dock, entrance into Chuggington and any other Chuggington interactive parts bought separately (we have the rock quarry). The trains and station all converse with each other.Station has three spots for trains to park. The spots only hold the main engine, not any additional carts linked to them. Trains make sleeping noises when they're parked face-in. There is a "lazy Susan" style track piece to get trains from their station spots onto the main track.Fuel depot has three types of energy resources to choose from plus a handle to "fill up". Each resource causes the handle to make a different sound when pressed.Loading dock comes with six different resources and three spots to place them. Each item makes a different sound when either placed on the dock or lifted from it. You can move the crane (up, down, around) and put items in is mouth. It makes sounds like a working crane when it's moved. Each interactive part also seems to have a light. Trains can link to additional carts to carry items. Each interactive part requires batteries, has off/on and sometimes "Try Me" switch options. There is no volume control. Most parts are a moderate volume but the main station seems a bit loud (may wake a light sleeper). Some pieces are big and heavy. It's not the type of train set I'd want to rebuild often. We keep ours on a train table (it doesn't fit in our train table drawers).Track: We had trouble putting it together at first. The spiral incline kept coming apart. Finally, my husband was able to get it to stay put with normal (not rough) play. Also, the track pieces click together and are not as easy to change as say, wooden Brio tracks. I have not found another way to putting together all of the pieces besides as shown in the photo. I would probably recommend buying more track pieces if you like to build and rebuild new tracks. However, be warned that there are multiple types of Chuggington tracks and not all have these type of links.Overall: We've had guests of all ages play with this train set and comment on how cool it is. Various kids through age four and parents have enjoyed playing with this set. It's entertaining enough for days of regular play.

Neat electronics, but elevated track is unsteady
My son got this train set for his 3rd Birthday. He is a HUGE Chuggington fan. There are some very nice things about this set, and some not so nice things. On the plus side, the trains and the larger elements (train shed, crane, gate) are all battery operated, and have some sort of proximity sensor. When they get near each other, interesting things happen. Each item has a few different pre-recorded sounds and phrases. When Wilson gets near Action Chugger, for example, they might say hi to each other. The recognition of the toys for each other is a cool feature, and my son absolutely LOVES it!On the other hand, the track is a bit of a pain. The snap connection for the tracks is a little hard to figure out, and at 3 years old there's no hope my son can do it, unlike wooden train set tracks. There's an elevated corkscrew which is a great idea, but the supports aren't solid enough (in terms of their connections to other pieces) to hold up to play, the pieces kept coming apart for us and having to be put back together. The plastic train cars have some nice detail to them. However they have a ball-and-socket style joiner which you snap together, which I really don't like. There are other age-appropriate trains which have magnetic couplings which I think are much friendlier. All in all, if you have sixty dollars you want to spend on train toys, I might encourage you to take a closer look at other options.Pro:- Neat sensors in major pieces detect other pieces / trains and say appropriate phrases- Nice details on the trains and some of the other pieces- Individual pieces seem sturdy enoughCon:- Track is a bit hard to assemble / disassemble sections- The elevated section doesn't seem to stay assembled well during play- I personaly don't like the ball-and-socket style couplings used on the trains.

Falls apart too much
Terrible product! The track falls apart all the time. I love the interaction part, but its not worth the money! The trains don't have real wheels so the hill is slow. I'm surprised they approved the design of the track and put their name on it!
