Just what I needed to monitor temperatures for a number of things and situations.
Just what I needed to monitor temperatures for a number of things and situations. I am not looking for lab accuracy, but an economical instrument I can leave to monitor without worrying about a more expensive unit being taken.

Not reliable
The meter arrived with one thermocouple sensor weld broken. Both sensors (and the meter) look really flimsy. I tested the intact thermocouple at boiling, along with the Taylor 9940N and a Fluke. The Actpe was about 3 degrees F low; the others were right on. I have no confidence in it, and I doubt that I will use this meter.

Not accurate!
Not accurate! I measured several temperatures (ice cold water, room temperature water, body temperature, boiled water), the thermometer is way off - by as much as 10-15 deg F, as calibrated against several other thermometers, ThermaPen etc.. I used several different k-type thermocouples and kept getting the same results. Sometimes thermocouple couldn't get a reading at all (as if it's disconnected), and sometimes the readings would fluctuate wildly, by 20F or so, every second (kept getting a range between 30F and 50F while measuring 60F water).See the photo attached, Actpe shows 51.1F, while Thermapen shows 60.8F (all other thermometers are consistent with 60.8F).

Good meter
A very good value, it's accuracy is ok.

If you want a good one this isn't it!
The thermocouples that were included with the meter were junk. One did not work at all. So I had to by another T/C. The meter itself is Ok but very slow thermal response. I use it primarily for temp control monitoring in my deep frier. I'll spend a few extra buck for a better one next time.
