Works pretty good.
I’ve never been a big fan of this type of edger. It never made sharp, clean edges and I always seem to get better results from tape. This time I’m painting a large house with high ceilings (10+ ft) and didn’t want to attempt taping or cutting in sooooo much. I purchased this edger because it will attach to a pole to get to the higher ceilings. It will pivot so you can paint at an angle, but there’s a spring that wants to return to to 90 degrees. This makes the pad hit the unpainted wall if you’re not careful. I found if you load the pad with paint from a small roller or brush you’ll get better results. I have already used it on the ceiling with fairly decent results but I’ll most likely tape up around doors and windows for a cleaner look.

Works Miracles 🙂
This has to be the best invention anyone has made. I read the reviews and was hesitant on buying this, but I decided to go on gut instinct and bought it. OMG, this edger works miracles and if you use it correctly it cuts your painting in half. I only got it for the walls where they touch the ceiling. Crisp, clean lines and nothing on the ceiling. I found if you put the paint in the middle of the pad with a paint brush, it will flow to the top, but use the motion up the wall slightly before going right to the top. If you get paint on the wheels you might as well stop and clean it out and start the next day. Tip: Only do the upper trim the 1st day of your house, depending on how big of project you have. Take your time! The more you wash your pad out and use it again, I noticed that it becomes stiff and does not perform as well. I used 2 pads for a 1500 Sq. foot house. I did attach this to a paint pole and did the stair well with it. It was a little tough, but after 2 coats I got it perfect. I don't have great arm strength but it all came out perfect. So so happy! It a 56 year old lady can do this, anyone can. There are also videos out on how to use this. Trust me for as cheap as this is and the job it performs, WOW! LOVE IT!

It will give you a good edge, but you've gotta really coax it.
This works . . . sorta. It's okay, and it will get the job done. But the instructions on the package and in the videos I watched were all wrong. It says to lightly put the edger onto the top of the paint in the tray to get the paint on the edger. WRONG! You have no control over where the paint is ending up on the edger if you do it this way. And that means that if the paint didn't happen to end up at the edge of the edger, guess what? You won't get a good edge. Plus, loading the paint on it the way they describe to do it can easily end up with getting too much paint on the edger, with the inevitable drips and mess that follows. You "have to" do it their way because if you just kinda dunk it in the tray, you'll get paint OVER the edges, which is exactly what you don't want to do. Instead, the better way to use this is to use a 2" brush and load up the paint on the edger yourself by, well, painting it. That way you control not only the amount of paint that's on it - eliminating drips - but the location of the paint on it - creating better edges. Yes, this takes longer, but you'll still save time by using the edger this way as opposed to trying to paint it with a skinny brush yourself. This has a learning curve - you should practice doing the edging in the more awkward spots without paint before actually using it. I did that, but I'm a lame-o, so I still had some trouble using it. At the end of the day, once I figured out the "real" way to use this, this gave me pretty darn good edges and saved me time without getting very much paint on the other wall where I didn't want it to go.

GOD. AWFUL.
Worst thing ever. I do not recommend this for high ceilings. I had very high hopes and read a lot of blogs that recommended this. But it was a waste and a nightmare. We have 20-foot ceilings with a loft, so the last thing I wanted to do was get up on a ladder to do the wall/ceiling edging. Yeah well... First off, the instructions SUCK - did not explain how to attach the pads correctly, only how to actually paint (if you don’t understand the basics of painting, this isn’t the item for you). So after screwing up a lot, I figured it out on my own later. Too late. And it STILL didn’t work correctly after all that. Second, it did not stay screwed on properly on any of the extension poles I had. You can’t tighten it, because it just jumped the threading and became loose again. So after using it a few times, it unscrews itself and falls off. So I got hit on the head with it VERY HARD from the second floor because it fell off the pole. Almost got knocked out cold and then it took over an hour to get all the paint out of my hair. Third, the paint gets EVERYWHERE. You can’t use a tray with it, you have to actually paint the paint onto the pad with a separate brush. Even then, the paint drips like crazy off of it, gets all over the wheels (and then on the walls/ceilings you wanted paint-free), gets behind the pad, creates reservoirs that never stop dropping... horrendous. It was awful to clean. And after all of this... it still got paint all over my ceiling. (Attached a photo of the result using this edger.) I had to get up on a ladder and edge anyway. Had I known how useless this was, I wouldn’t have bought it and just climbed the ladder from the start. Terrifying height, might I add. And I’m far from stupid or inexperienced with painting. This was just the worst item I’ve ever tried using. I honestly recommend avoiding it.

Lifesaver
I was skeptical on this little tool but I tell you: give it a chance. I’m not a painter and wanted to give a refresh to my room. Using this saved me sooo much time. The tool is easy to use. My advice is make sure you press on the edges on the direction you want the line, press firmly but not too much and slide slowly but firmly. I have zero patience hence why my lines are not perfect. I’m very satisfied with this tool. Not sure if it will last long but it lasted for the wall I wanted painted. It was easy to clean it after the job. So good value for the money.

Near worthless for horizontal use
It might work alright for hand-held use when working from directly underneath the painting area, but made more of a mess than helped for my project. I needed to paint towards and into a corner above a refrigerator/cabinet, working from the side with the device mounted on a pole to reach horizontally along the crown moulding in that area too far to reach by hand (again, due to the size of the refrigerator cabinetry). Problem 1: the pivot piece, the black piece into which the rod screws, CANNOT BE LOCKED in place, so it swivels side-to-side about 60 degrees, and up-and-down about 40 degrees. This made the painting pad extremely difficult to control when working sideways. This would likely also be an annoyance when working from directly underneath with a long pole, as it tends to wobble since the attachment piece can't be locked in place. Problem 2: the pole attachment piece cannot rotate 90 degrees, so the wheels (which are only along the "top" edge) can't be used in a sideways configuration to protect your moulding. Minor annoyances: what little instructions there were did not explain things like how to replace the pad, and if the pivot/attachment piece could be somehow rotated 90 degrees (I gave it a try, but it seemed it would break completely if I succeeded). In summary: for a straightforward purely hand-held use, working from directly below with wheels pointing upward, it *might* be alright, but that wasn't my use-case. OF NOTE: there seems to be a lack of quality tools for this; this particular device seemed to be the best I could find, and even then it clearly isn't professional-grade (which I am not a pro, but I like having decent quality tools). ALSO: the other reviewer's tip of NOT dipping, but "painting" the paint onto the pad with a brush was EXCELLENT ADVICE.

Un gadget rien de plus, je pensais éviter de mettre du ruban de masquage grâce à cette objet et gagner du temps. Ce n’est pas l’outil qui va révolutionné la peinture

Money saver
This item is a miracle from heaven. Whoever invented this deserves a noble ingenious price. I was able to detail the corners of my home with this item here. There was a point where I had one liter left and I knew using a roller, which absorbs so much of the paint, would not be enough to paint my dining room. I actually painted the dining room using this edger here and I still had paint left after the whole thing! I highly recommend this product. The bristles don't hold a huge load of the paint meaning you can disperse it more and spread it out. It helped me a lot!

Excellent product, a must buy!
The shur-line is amazing! Cutting in is so much quicker and neater!! Took half the time to paint a room because the cutting in went so quickly. I don't know how some people are getting paint on the wheels, I didn't get paint on the wheels once. The best way to use this I found is to use a roller tray, roll up some paint onto the ridged bit then dab the shur-line into the paint and you don't get a massive excess of paint. You do end up with a line of excess paint from the other side of the shur line but I had my husband painting straight after I cut in so he blended any excess straight in and this wasn't a problem. Also the shur-line doesn't work so well on walls that aren't straight, we had a little patch of the wall where a leak was and its made the wall uneven so I had to use a brush for this section. Overall a great product, well worth the money, easy to use and saved lots of time and frustration trying to keep a perfectly steady hand.
