ABC Kecap Manis Indonesian Special Sweet Soy Sauce - 20 OZ

This is not what I learned kecap manis is! This is a very sweet, syrupy-thick substance that tastes like brown sugar with a little soy sauce mixed in. It came in a three-bottle pack, which is unfortunate, because I don't use it!

I bought this as an ingredient as a marinade and a constituent of the peanut sauce for chicken satay. A friend, tasting it, said this would be good on ice cream. I was doubtful until we tried it, but the universal reaction among the four of us was "My God." It is a magical combination of sweet and salty and is absolutely delicious with ice cream, especially a good vanilla.

This is a truly great additive to the marinating sauce I make to prepare salmon for smoking. The sweet soy adds a special flavor to the salmon, which comes through very distinctly after the fish has been smoked. This sweet soy sauce is difficult to find on most grocery stores - might be possible in an Asian market.
