SunSun HW-5000 UV 9W 4-Stage External Canister Filter, 1215gph, White, One Size

Ok at first I liked it then nothing but problem, hose had hole in it (they are sending me a new on) today I cleaned it out bc I am losing so much water pressure and found out that the tube for the UV light leaked and holds water- the wires are all wet, light dont work, and it's already starting to rust and I havent even had it long at all. This is very unacceptable

The media could not be loaded.  Pros:-Wired digital controller-Great adjustable flowrate-Solid construction and build quality-Heavy duty flexible tubing-Huge bio filtration basket-Easy installation-Self primeCons:-no sponges included( only 3 fine polypads).- a bit noisy when on the highest flowrate (P40)It sounds like there is air trapped inside and it's trying to purge it out. The sound is similar to when a garden hose gets pinched while on.(sSsSsSs sound). Unplugging and replugging fixes the issue but it comes back in a few hours. Luckily no leaks and only time will tell.**Update** 9/8/19: Returning this filter. The air trap noise is too much. I just don't know how to fix it anymore. Turning it off and on every 6 hours is not cutting it for me.9/11/19: Ended up getting the 704B. I use exact same bio media from the hw-5000 when I had it and had extra room to spare. So in turn the 704b will filter the exact same as the hw5000. 704b is also smaller,lighter when full, easier to clean overall for me. The flow seems to be about p30 setting from hw5000. No more headaches.

I was on the fence about getting the Eheim 2262 for a high flow filter then I came across this filter and glad I did. Very quick and easy setup, possibly has higher output than the 2262 and saved me $300 👍 Only thing is you won’t get as much biomedia in this as you will with the eheim but I managed to get quite a bit using 2 of the trays for bio. The small 9w UV is kind of a waste especially in a high water flow situation, but love the adjustable flow rate and the timed feed pause so you can feed the fish without blowing the food away. All in all I’m happy with the SunSun HW-5000 and would recommend to anyone with say 180gal or larger aquarium6 month update: still going strong love this canister!

The media could not be loaded.  No issues. Yes theres water residual from testing. Doesnt meant it's a used filter. Its quiet and moves massive amounts of water. Huge filter. Adjustable flow, adjustable UV timer. Adjustable feeding timer. Non kink hoses . I own fx6'S. Time will tell but at this point I'm impressed with the quality. Much better than their previous products.

Was great untill it started leaking again!! first it was the connect hose. I was sent a replacement and thoes too were leaking. I sealed it with silicone instead of going through the hassle to get another replacement. After a few months the internal light compartment started leaking i came home and there was a puddle of water in the livingroom. 😭 if they test this before sent out why when i received my purchase it was leaking. My fish tank is currently without filter, its a large tank given why i needed such a larger filter. But i just cant stop it from leaking. My fish are slowly dying cause of this change. Im currently seaching for a replacement cause i cant get in contact with seller or find a manufacturer number or any replacement parts. Its just a bucket with a hole in it now ...... 😭🥺

What a Huge disappointment. Some YouTube "influencers" were saying this was the fx6 killer so I went here to check it out. Saw the bad reviews on Amazon but ignored it and gave it a shot. Showed up 3 days late which happens sometimes. Was happy to just finally have it so I set it up, turned it on, and after about 30 seconds it starts a catastrophic leak. The drain plug on the bottom completely shot off and started leaking water everywhere. You also cannot screw this piece back on or pop it back on.. If I wasn't there this would have killed all the fish in my tank. Not only does it leak so bad you'd loose all your water in minutes, it sounds like a damn garbage disposal when running full speed. I'm so mad about this I will NEVER EVER purchase a sun sun product again. Do not waste your time or money on this! I have an Fx6 on a tank and thought I'd save some money and try this out on another tank, DON'T! Just buy the Fx6.It also says it doesn't come with media. Which oddly it did come with ceramic rings, activated carbon, some fine filter pads, and those plastic media balls. That was nice, but I ended up buying $100 worth of biohome ultimate media since it said it doesn't come with media... I'm out so much because of this junk filter. Now I'm going to have to pack this POS back up and drag it to a shipping center to send back.I'd use a cheese cloth as a filter over this bucket of junk any day!

About one month of use and this thing is a beast for the money. I have it on my 125 cichlid tank and it handles the load just fine. Very high flow even when packed down with media. Only issues is it was a bit noisy, but customer service told me to add vaseline to the impeller and the noise is highly reduced now.edit: 5 months in and this thing is still going strong. I also want to add that if you pack it down with a lot of media it will have that trapped air sound, but that goes the same for all canister filters.

I was skeptical at first on this filter after reading the reviews. I suggest removing the housing for the UV light and making sure that the tube is fully seated and the collar is tight. Performance wise this filter destroys an FX6. The flow is crazy good. So much that we had to turn it down on our 150 planted tank. We've found that it performs great at pump setting 25. Oh and you're not getting a used filter. That is residual water from them factory testing the pump.

After watching various reviews - some good some not so good I decided to buy and try. What a surprise. Well made and easy to set up. Arrived within 2 days. Now installed on one of my aquariums. Within hours the water is crystal clear whereas the other large aquarium with an fx6 is without doubt not so clear.The filter came with a uk style plug and on the control panel the lettering is in English.Should I buy another…most certainly.

Le filtre sunsun hw-5000 est un super filtre aucun problème fonctionnel et vraiment silencieux.Par contre j'ai reçut le mien avec la tête de buse en caoutchouc complètement fendu du coup rafistolé au serflex c'est un incident qui a sont importance car niveau étanchéité c'était mort... Si il n'y avait pas cet incident tois serait parfait.
