Great Gameplay, Great Graphics, Incredible Level Depth
This is a great game and you can get it for an unbeatable price on Amazon. I have been addicted to it for a few weeks now and cant stop. The "Nail a Trick" aspect is awesome and the different areas of the game have incredible detail. The goals are challenging but doable. The graphics of the characters in the goal minivideos could be better but thats not why im playing the game and you shouldn't be playing for that either. Classic THPS gameplay that doesnt disappoint.

I hope youre ready to skate exiting new places!!! ohh wait...
I haven't played Tony Hawk games since THUG, so I really wanted to try the new one out to see what new stuff has come about. I'm not very happy with most of anything in this game; I know it's not bad, it's just skating around doing a couple of tricks and getting points. but the missions seem dumb, and repetitive, they still have this whole thing where you can walk, which seems pointless to me because it doesn't do anything good except but climb stuff, if you get on your feet skating, its because you're gonna run to get some speed before you do your line. I like the fact that the levels are connected, and the new nail the trick missions are fun. Besides that, the game doesn't have the fun it used to, neversoft is more concerned on you chaining 60 repetitive tricks into a combo that actually making an enjoyable skating game, I do enjoy chaining some combos, but not 5 minutes of the same crappy tricks just to get the multipliers. Also, besides the pointless walking, they have some features which are new to me that seem pointless as well, like the spinning around on the mailbox or pole, & grind stalls. To me, they should try to make this more like THPS 3 or 4 those were really fun, no matter how much I played them, I never got sick of them. I hope they do figure out that they should concentrate more on good missions, less combo chaining, and really fun stages instead of revamps of the old stages, like the school & fun house, when there are so many other new locations and countries to skate on!!! But no, were stuck in suburbia and the old factory, again!!! I really do hope they get their heads together and the next THPS is really good, but I'm not going to find out, because this is the last time I spend any money on any Tony Hawk game.

DId not enjoy this, maybe next one
I bought this expecting this would be nice as the old skate games like I was used to play on earlier with PSone. But it was disappointing. I thought some reviews I saw were so hard hard on their reviewing comments and it should not be that bad but honestly, now I agree. To play carrier mode is ok but to play multiplayer mode it is not even ok, the screen sharing is too bad and even if you're used to play another multiplayer games you should feel a little difficulty to get used with this on this game. Anyways, I do not recommend if you are looking for some multiplayer game. If you're looking for a single/carrier skate game, it should be ok.

Good
Tony Hawk's Project 8 tries to go back to the basics of what made the first games so likable, while still keeping a "story" for those who thought that was a good addition. The game has a simple story, the "classic" goals as well as tons of others, and is just plain fun to play. In holding true to the Tony Hawk's series you can string together tons and tons of tricks and there are even a few new ones that you haven't been able to do in previous games to rack up points, to complete goals, to eventually become one of the top 8 skaters and join Tony Hawk's new crew. This game is fun to play, has great graphics, and was worth the $19.99 price. If your a fan of the other games, you will like this one too.

Christian Hosoi!
I became excited enough to score a used copy of this game after watching Rising Sun: The Story of Christian Hosoi. Skateboarding legend Hosoi is an unlockable, secret character in this game. I'm a gaming OG. I have been a fan of the Tony Hawk series since the first one. Good news is that the gameplay hasn't changed, but rather evolved. The skating in this game still has the speed and feel of the old games but with new tricks and options to master. I really like the slow motion kickflip modification. I also like the character setup and career mode in this one more than the originals. Now I just have to find time to play!

not the same game as on ps2
my husband and i originally had this game for the ps2 and we loved playing it! we eventually sold our ps2 and the games and got the ps3. having missed playing this game we decided to buy it for the ps3. its not the same game though! they took out alot of the original game play and tasks you had to complete in story mode. which personally for us, was what made the game so fun. overall, its a fun game and we still enjoy playing it. if you never played the ps2 version then you probably wont feel like you are missing out on anything. but if you are like us and have played it, be prepared to be a little disappointed. in the end i would suggest this game, its still alot of fun. (ps2 version is better though, in our opinion).
